Effective: Publisher: Dodemy Inc Apps: App Store & Google Play

Summary

Sacred Songs & Solos (the “app”) is a songbook companion for worship, devotion and music, published by Dodemy Inc (“Dodemy”, “we”, “us”). You don’t need an account and we don’t ask for your name, e-mail address or other personal details. The app is supported by ads from Google AdMob, which collects some limited data from your device to show and measure those ads.

No account

Use the app without signing up or logging in.

Contains ads

Ads are served by Google AdMob, which collects limited device and usage data.

You choose

Review available advertising privacy choices and, on iPhone and iPad, control optional usage and crash reports.

Saved items stay local

Your hymn edits, favourites and compositions are saved on your device. Device backups may also contain this data.

About this policy

This policy covers the app on iPhone and iPad (Apple App Store) and on Android devices (Google Play), and this support website. Where something works differently on one platform, we say so. It does not cover the services of Apple, Google or other companies, which have their own privacy policies.

Information we collect

What we do not collect

We do not ask for, and the app does not collect on our behalf:

  • your name, e-mail address, phone number or postal address, or any account;
  • your precise location (GPS);
  • your contacts, photos, files, camera or microphone data;
  • health or financial information.

What our ad provider collects automatically

Because the app shows ads, the ad software inside it collects a small set of technical data from your device, such as an advertising identifier and your IP address. Examples and purposes are described under Ads and your data. We do not receive this data ourselves, only aggregated ad reports that do not identify you.

Usage and crash reports

We use Google Firebase Analytics and Crashlytics to understand app usage and diagnose failures. Depending on the service and configuration, reports can include app-instance or installation identifiers, device and operating-system information, usage events and crash diagnostics. This processing is separate from AdMob advertising.

iPhone and iPad: these app diagnostics are off by default. You can enable or disable them in Settings › Privacy › Share usage and crash reports. When configured and enabled in the released app, our custom events contain published hymn numbers, not search text, song titles or composed lyrics. Turning the option off stops future collection; it does not by itself delete reports already sent.

Android: the release implementation uses Firebase Analytics and Crashlytics. Analytics events can include app opens, hymn numbers and titles, searches, favourites and sharing actions. The iOS diagnostics switch described above is not an Android control.

See Firebase’s privacy and security information for service-specific processing and retention.

Information you choose to send us

If you contact us by e-mail (for example from the Support page), we receive your e-mail address and whatever you write or attach. We use it only to reply to you and to improve the app. We do not sell it, rent it or share it for marketing, and we keep it only as long as needed to resolve your request and keep a reasonable record of it.

Ads and your data

The app displays ads served by Google AdMob, a service of Google. To show, measure and protect those ads, the Google Mobile Ads software inside the app collects the data below and shares it with Google, which may use it together with its advertising partners. Google and its partners decide how that data is used under their own privacy policies; we do not receive it.

Data collected automatically by the ad software
Data Examples Why it is used
Device identifiers Android: advertising ID and app set ID, subject to platform settings. The current iPhone and iPad version does not request tracking authorization or access to IDFA. Other app-specific identifiers may still be processed by the ad SDK. Show and measure ads, limit how often you see the same ad, prevent fraud, and personalize ads where you allow it.
IP address and approximate location Your IP address, which can reveal your general area (such as city or region). It is not your precise GPS location. Show ads relevant to your region, detect fraud and apply local legal rules.
Ads and app interactions Ads shown, taps, video views and app launches. Measure ad performance and cap how often ads appear.
Diagnostics and performance Crash logs, app launch time, hang rate and energy use. Keep ads and the ad software stable and secure.

Personalized and non-personalized ads

The current iPhone and iPad version requests non-personalized ads and does not request Apple tracking authorization. Android ad personalization depends on the release configuration, your consent and device settings. Non-personalized ads can still involve data processing for measurement, frequency limits, security and fraud prevention. Whether an ad can be shown depends on the applicable consent outcome and ad availability.

What we receive

We receive aggregated reports from our ad provider, such as the number of ads shown and estimated earnings. These reports do not identify you.

Learn more in Google’s explanation of how it uses information from apps that use its services.

Your ad choices

You decide how much of your data is used for ads. These controls work on your device, whether or not you contact us.

iPhone and iPad

  • The current version does not show an Apple tracking-permission prompt and requests non-personalized ads.
  • Open the app’s Settings › Privacy. When Google requires it, Advertising privacy choices lets you reopen its privacy form. Share usage and crash reports separately controls optional app diagnostics.

Android

  • Open Settings › Privacy › Ads (the path varies by device, and may be under Google).
  • Choose Delete advertising ID or Reset advertising ID, or turn off ad personalization.

Europe, the UK and Switzerland

Where the law requires it, the app shows a consent message, provided by Google’s User Messaging Platform, before ad partners use your device data. Your consent outcome determines whether ads can be requested and what type can be shown; ads may be unavailable. When required, the privacy or ad-choices option in the app’s settings lets you review your choice.

United States

Some state privacy laws let you opt out of the “sale” or “sharing” of personal information, or of targeted advertising (see Sharing & third parties). Use the available advertising privacy choices and platform controls described above. You can also e-mail us and we will help.

Google account settings

If you use a Google account, you can also manage ad personalization at adssettings.google.com.

Data stored on your device

The app saves display preferences, favourites, hymn edits and composed songs in its private storage. The operating system’s app sandbox protects this storage. There is no app-managed cloud sync; operating-system backups or device transfers may include it. Usage events described above are separate from the saved song database. The ad software may also keep identifiers and settings on your device, such as your consent choice.

Permissions

Android

The app uses network access to load ads, and the advertising ID permission so the ad provider can use your advertising ID. You can reset or delete that ID in your device settings at any time. The app does not request location, contacts, camera, microphone, photos or files.

iPhone and iPad

The current iPhone and iPad version does not request tracking authorization. It does not request location, contacts, camera, microphone, photos or files. Advertising consent and the optional diagnostics switch are handled separately inside the app.

Sharing and third parties

We do not sell your personal information for money, and we do not share it with anyone for their own marketing. We use the following third parties:

  • Google AdMob serves and measures the ads in the app, as described above. See the Google Privacy Policy.
  • Google Firebase Analytics and Crashlytics process usage and crash reports as described in Information we collect. We can access reports through these services.
  • Apple App Store and Google Play distribute the app and handle your purchases and downloads. See the Apple Privacy Policy and the Google Privacy Policy. If you have opted in on your device, they may give us aggregated crash and usage statistics that do not identify you.

“Sale” and “sharing” under US state laws

Allowing an ad provider to collect identifiers and ad interactions to show personalized ads can count as “sharing” for cross-context behavioral advertising, or as a “sale”, under laws such as the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA/CPRA). In the past 12 months, the categories disclosed this way were:

  • Identifiers, such as the advertising ID and IP address;
  • Internet or app activity, such as ad views and taps;
  • Approximate location, derived from the IP address.

You can opt out as described in Your ad choices. We do not knowingly sell or share the personal information of people under 16.

International transfers

Our ad provider processes data in the United States and other countries. Where the law requires, it uses safeguards such as standard contractual clauses for transfers from Europe and the UK.

Legal reasons

We may disclose information to comply with law or protect people’s safety and rights, but we hold almost none to disclose.

Children’s privacy

The app is intended for a general audience and is not directed to children under 13, or under the age of digital consent in your country. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children and we do not knowingly show them personalized ads. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has sent us personal information, contact us and we will delete it promptly.

Retention and deletion

Advertising data and Firebase reports are retained according to the services’ policies and our service configuration. Contact us about reports or support messages; disabling collection or deleting the app does not automatically delete data already sent to those services. Use Your ad choices to limit it, for example by resetting your advertising ID. To remove what the app stores on your device:

Android

  1. Open Settings › Apps › Sacred Songs & Solos.
  2. Choose Storage, then Clear storage (or Clear data) to reset the app, or choose Uninstall to remove it.

iPhone and iPad

  1. Open Settings › General › iPhone Storage (or iPad Storage) and choose Sacred Songs & Solos.
  2. Tap Delete App to remove the app and its data.

To have e-mails you sent us deleted, write to us at the address below.

Security

We keep the app and its components up to date, request as few permissions as possible and collect as little data as possible. Your saved data is protected by your operating system’s app sandbox and your device’s own security. Google states that data its ad software collects on Android is encrypted in transit. No system is perfectly secure, but collecting little keeps the risk low.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights over your personal information:

  • Europe, the UK and Switzerland (GDPR): access, correction, deletion, restriction, portability, objection, withdrawing consent at any time, and complaining to your data protection authority.
  • California and other US states: to know what is collected, to delete and correct it, to opt out of “sale”, “sharing” and targeted advertising, and to not be treated unfairly for using these rights.
  • Canada (PIPEDA), Brazil (LGPD), Australia and others: similar rights under local law.

Requests may concern support e-mails or data processed through our service providers. We may not be able to associate a particular device or app-instance report with your identity. To make a request, contact us. We may need to confirm your identity, and we will reply within the time the law requires (generally 30 to 45 days). For data held by Google, you can also use Google’s own privacy controls.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The latest version is always on this page with its effective date at the top. If a change is significant, such as a new ad provider or a new permission, we will say so in the store listing or release notes before it reaches you.

The app won’t open or keeps crashing. What can I do?

Restart your phone or tablet first. Then follow the steps for your device.

iPhone and iPad

  1. Open the App Store, tap your profile picture and check Updates for a newer version of the app.
  2. Make sure your device has free storage space.
  3. As a last resort, delete the app and install it again from the App Store. Anything you saved inside the app will be removed.

Android

  1. Open Google Play, search for Sacred Songs & Solos and install any available update.
  2. Go to Settings › Apps › Sacred Songs & Solos › Storage and tap Clear cache.
  3. As a last resort, uninstall and reinstall the app. Anything you saved inside the app will be removed.

Still stuck? Tell us your device model, system version and what happens, using the form below.

Do I need an account, and what data does the app collect?

No account is needed. Google AdMob processes advertising data, and Firebase provides usage and crash reports. On iPhone and iPad, app diagnostics are off by default and controlled in Settings. See Information we collect and Ads and your data for platform-specific details.

Where is my saved data kept? Can I move it to a new phone?

Anything you save and your preferences are stored only on your device. We do not keep a copy, so we cannot restore it for you.

iPhone and iPad: app data is included in an iCloud backup if backups are on, and moves across when you transfer from your old device while setting up the new one.

Android: depending on your backup settings, Android may restore app data on a new phone. Check Settings › Google › Backup.

I found a mistake in a song. How do I report it?

Please use the form below and choose Correct a song. Include the song number, its title, what is wrong and, if you can, what it should say. The more detail you give, the faster we can check and fix it.

The layout looks wrong on my tablet, iPad or foldable.

Try rotating the device, closing and reopening the app, and updating to the latest version from the App Store or Google Play. If the problem remains, tell us your device model, system version and how the screen is positioned (folded, unfolded, split-screen). A screenshot is very helpful: after your e-mail app opens you can attach it to the message.

How do I find out which version of the app I have?

iPhone and iPad: open Settings › General › iPhone Storage (or iPad Storage) and choose the app. The version is shown under its name.

Android: open Settings › Apps › Sacred Songs & Solos and scroll to the bottom, where the version is shown.

How do I delete my data?

Android: open Settings › Apps › Sacred Songs & Solos › Storage and choose Clear storage, or uninstall the app.

iPhone and iPad: open Settings › General › iPhone Storage, choose the app and tap Delete App.

Deleting the app removes its local data, but not reports or data already sent to service providers, support e-mails, or separate device backups. To review advertising controls, see Your ad choices. To have e-mails you sent us deleted, contact us.

How can I suggest a new feature?

We would love to hear it. Use the form below, choose Suggest a feature and describe what you would like to do and why it would help.

Why does the app show ads?

Ads help fund the app’s development and upkeep. They are served by Google AdMob. To show them, it collects limited device data such as an advertising ID and your IP address. The Ads and your data section of our Privacy Policy explains what and why.

How do I limit ad personalization or stop tracking?

iPhone and iPad

The current version requests non-personalized ads and does not ask for tracking permission. Open the app’s Settings › Privacy for Advertising privacy choices when available, and the separate Share usage and crash reports switch.

Android

Open Settings › Privacy › Ads (the path varies by device) and delete or reset your advertising ID, or turn off ad personalization.

Europe, the UK and Switzerland

The app shows a consent message before ad partners use your data. You can change your choice from the privacy or ad-choices option in the app’s settings. Your choice affects ad eligibility and the types of ads that can be shown; ads may be unavailable.

More detail is in Your ad choices.

An ad is inappropriate, misleading, broken or covers a button. What can I do?

Many ads have an AdChoices or info icon you can tap to report the ad directly. You can also tell us: choose Report an ad or ad problem in the form below, and say roughly when you saw the ad, what it was for and what went wrong. A screenshot helps, and you can attach one once your e-mail app opens. We review every report and pass it to our ad provider.
